Developed by the Russian company Eltechs, ExaGear was a commercial virtualization solution that allowed ARM-based Android devices to run x86 (Windows) applications and games. Unlike standard virtual machines, ExaGear used a proprietary technology to translate CPU instructions on the fly, providing far better performance than conventional emulation methods. The "ED" version was a later official iteration designed specifically for Chromebooks, but as an Android app, it was also compatible with phones and tablets, eventually becoming the preferred build for many users.
