The story begins with the introduction of Sultan Mirza (played by Naseeruddin Shah), a notorious gangster who rules Wasseypur with an iron fist. Sultan is a just and fair ruler, loved by the locals, but his methods are often brutal and ruthless. The film then shifts to the 1980s, where we are introduced to our protagonist, Ramakant Pandey (played by Aadhavan), a young and ambitious man who wants to make a name for himself in the world of crime.
